PostSubject: Izanami's Shelter   Thu Feb 07, 2013 11:44 pm

In the northwestern Buffer Fields near the Petrucious Forest, under a dead bush, is a medium sized hatch. A wooden ladder (made by hand) leads down to the large exotic rug covering the floor. On the opposite wall is a stove, fueled by charcoal, and a small gas oven. A wooden table (handmade) sits in the center of the room. On the far right is a worn and dirtied queen mattress, covered in varied sheets and blankets, with little storage underneath and a small shelf above it. On the left side is pantry and storage, with four to five individual standing utilities with five shelves each. Under the table lay several supplies used for her witchcraft, as some would have it. A small chest is hidden in the room somewhere.

Enter Izanami's Shelter

Ramith knocked on the hatch to the witch's house exactly three times before pausing. It was a habbit of his, one that people picked up on quite quickly. He leaned against the a small tree, being careful not to put catch himself on any of the nooks, in case he moved quickly and ripped his clothes. Picking up his bag, Ramith rumaged through his bag, looking at the items he had on him. There was a small amount of smoked meat, and a small pie that he had baked himself. There was also a note that his father had given him for the witch, and a small first aid kit that Ramith always kept with him. Making sure that was all was there, Ramith closed the bag, and put it back on his shoulder. His short sword hung from his waist, shethed with a small amount of leather.

After waiting a few moments Ramith knocked again, this time a little louder. He was a feeling a little uneasy. He was suppose to get back awhile ago, and report back to his senior officer. This errand his dad had sent him wasn't suppose to take this long, but Ramith had gotten lost along the way. The hatch hadn't been the easiest to find, but that didn't make him being late any less of a problem.

ENTER IZANAMI'S SHELTER

After nearly an hour of trekking through the Buffer Fields, I anami began to approach the location of her home. Squinting her eyes, she could make out a younger man, standing by the hatch of her shelter. What was he doing there? He looked impatient, but at the same time nervous. 'He should be nervous...' She thought bitterly in her head, and she approached him, her right hand on her pack. "I've never seen you around these parts before. What has brought you to the dreary and empty Buffer Fields?" Izanami grunted, her eyes dartin around the boy in search of weapons and small, involuntary movements. She looked over her shoulder to the South Buffer Fields to see a stream of smoke staining the sky.

The voice caused Ramith to jump slightly, and he turned to see a young woman standing nearby. He let out a guilty smile, feeling a bit ashamed that he had jumped at her voice. Ramith gave her a quick look over. She was older than he was, but not as old as he thought the witch would be. "Izamai?" Ramith asked, taking a step towards her. There was something about her that said mysterious. He removed his hand from his sword, and held out a bag for her. "This is for you," He said, "I was told that you made potions." She was much younger than she thought she was going to be.

Izanami looked at the bag suspiciously, then looked back to the Dalet. He was youn for a soldier, obviously a newbie. "Yes, I make potions, but who told you that? And what is in the bag? I have many questions for you so I suggest that you start givin me answers," she somewhat demanded, crossing her arms before her chest. He looked to be at six or seven years younger than her, maybe more. She couldn't stand to continue to stand around outside, it was beginning to grow cold, but Izanami did not think it a good idea to bring him into her shelter.

"My father sent me to you. He told me you can make some healing potions," Seeing that she was suspisous of the bag, so he opened it, showing her what was in there. "Ok, lets go somewhere so you can ask me all your questions an such."

Izanami stooped low and lifted the door to her shelter. "After you," she insisted and looked back to the smoke in the sky. Was it a signal? Or was it a campfire? Izanami bit her lip softly. This was a risky move to let a Dalet into her home, but they had sheltered her in her time of need. She was forever in debt.

PostSubject: An Unexpected Meeting   Sun Feb 10, 2013 6:54 pm

Moving north along the edge of the forest through the Buffer Fields, Ceadda came to a stop. There was smoke in the distance, but for whatever reason, he did not know. Could be a lot of things. What caught his eye a second later was a bit of discoloration near a dead bush. His curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to check it out.

To his surprise, there was a hatch. He was surprised he noticed it at all, considering it was well hidden. Again, his curiosity getting the better of him, he knocked on the hatch, calling out if anybody was there. He wasn't going to just open it, because although he was curious, he wasn't stupid.

He scanned his surrounding while he awaited a response.

Izanami looked back out of the hatch. "Excuse me, soldier, but I do not have time for this." She sighed. "Could you come by tomorrow afternoon? I need some time alone." She sent the Cadet off back to his home, making him take the bag of ingredients with him. She climbed back up the hatch and swung it open, then looked to see a man with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She studied him for a bit before climbing completely out and shutting the hatch with a solid thud. "How can I help you?" Izanami asked quietly. Apparently, she was becoming quite popular or her home was becoming quite obvious.

"Sorry to bother you, madam," Ceadda said to the woman with both bright hair and eyes. "I just noticed some discoloration in the brush and found your hatch. If you were hiding, I'd reconsider the color of your hatch." He noticed a young boy in the background, and wondered why he was there. "I'm sorry to bother you and I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Ceadda Allast, known in my line of work as 'Allastom.' May I have the pleasure of making your acquaintance, ma'am?"

Izanami felt her cheeks burn as she studied the man. He was attractive, no doubt, but she couldn't let her mind wander too far. "Please to meet you, Allastom. My name is Izanami." She whispered, quieter than a mouse. She looked to the ever shrinking sunset. "I would suggest getting back to your home; you're most likely missed."

Ceadda smiled as he noticed the woman blush. "I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of a home. I move around a lot, as my work requires. I was going to camp around here anyways, as I have to return to the city to return some herbs I gathered for a man who hired me. It was nice meeting you though, miss Izanami. I hope to see you again sometime, dear." Ceadda smiled at her. "I guess I'll go set up camp now."

"Wait!" Izanami said, then cleared her throat and lowered her voice. "Do not be so quick to leave, Allastom. And I do not suggest that you set up camp around here. Dangerous snakes and poisonous insect roam in these fields in search of blood. I pray you, please stay with me, at least for the night," she bit her lip and whispered to herself, "or longer, if you please." She normally would not let strangers into her home so quickly, especially men, as she had learned the hard way before, but she couldn't help but lend a hand to him. If that made Izanami a fool, she would be alright with it.

"Well that's a very kind offer, miss Izanami," Ceadda said, surprised at her willingness to house him. "I hope I'm not disturbing you or that young man standing down there. It really is very kind of you to offer though. I accept," he said, smiling broadly at her, "Good thing I don't take up much space!" Ceadda prepared to enter her home.

Izanami smiled softly. "You couldn't possibly disturb me, sir Allastom. Please, do make yourself comfortable in my home." She climbed in and shooed the soldier back to his post, out of her home, before climbing back out and motioning to the open hatch. "Are you, good sir." She smiled. Soon a chill grew on her back as the sun disappeared from view. She could feel the frost in the air beginning to form in the slowly freezing hair. Goosebumps cropped up quickly on her arms and legs as she waited to follow Allastom in.

Ceadda entered the hole, surveying its inside and contents. There was some storage, a table and cookware, and a mattress. Nothing surprising or of note. It was simple, but nice. He liked it.

"Miss Izanami, I thank you for your hospitality. It's most kind of you," he said, looking around again. "Your kindness shown towards a total stranger like me is actually very surprising. May I have the pleasure of asking to know more about you, and where you'd like me to sleep?" He asked.

He felt warmth at his surprise meeting of the woman, and smiled to himself as he thought about it.

Izanami climbed in after him and shut the hatch firmly, locking it twice before climbing back down the ladder. She stood across from him, and smiled softly. "For food and water, help yourself to the storage. I have a large supply of smoked meat and canned vegetables. As far as sleeping concerns, you may take the bed. It's not much, but it's all I have to offer. I have a project to work on for a close friend, and I will have to stay up for the entire nigh to complete it." The last part was a lie, but she wasn't about to take the bed for herself.

"Oh now I couldn't take anymore from you than I am. I have my own supplies," he said, "I'm rarely this far north, so your help is most welcome, miss. Is there any way I can help you? I don't sleep much these days. Plus I don't think I could take your bed from you, I'm more than used to sleeping on the ground."

He looked around a bit and said, "What is it you do, anyways? If I may ask."

Izanami sighed softly. "Are you sure, Allastom? I'm more than willing to give you my bed for the night." She walked slowly to the wooden table in the middle of her shelter, leaning on it with both hands on the edge, standing on the opposite side from him.

"If you care to know, I am a sort of witch, if that's the term you prefer." She closed her eyes. "I prefer to refer to myself as a sorceress. I make potions, both with positive and negative effects. I'm working on perfectly spells, but I haven't had much luck." Izanami sighed longingly. "My mother was a sorceress as well, but she passed. These potions and spells hold a bittersweet memory for me."

"I'm quite sure, dear. I don't want to put you out anymore than I already have," Ceadda said, " I don't need your bed. Your assistance was more than I could ever ask." He walked over to the table and looked into her eyes.

"So why is it you're having issues perfecting your spells? It's unlikely, but I'm well traveled and I may have heard something. And tell me about your mother, if the subject isn't too sensitive for you," he said. "I'd be more than happy to try and assist you."

"Oh, and call me by my name, Ceadda. Allastom is just what I tell people I don't trust to call me."

Izanami smiled softly and felt her face grow hot. "Alright, Ceadda." She nodded, her eyes closed. She liked his actual name a lot more than Allastom, and it left a sweet taste on her lips.

"And for the spells, every time I attempt to cast a spell upon myself, the polar opposite of the expected outcome occurs. For example, this morning I tried a spell that causes you to be lighter, allowing you to float and glide through the air. However, after I cast it, my body was heavy, and I had to pick my legs up with my hands to walk. It's exhausting and stressful when I can't get the spells right. And if I'm not careful, I could end up hurting myself," Izanami opened one eye to look at him.

"Ah, I'm afraid I've never heard of anything like that happening. But the man I was contracted by to gather these herbs might know something. You're welcome to accompany into town and we can inquire about it. Otherwise I'm afraid I know nothing about it," he said, still looking right at her eyes.

"But no matter your choice, I'd like to get to know you, so if you're willing I'd like to hear more about you. Of course I'll return the favor," he said, "I rarely meet interesting people like you these days that I don't have to kill due to a contract..." Ceadda looked away for a second, a look of regret on his face.

Izanami closed the other eye. "Don't look so remorseful. I hear of assassins and killers bound to contracts daily, so do not fret." She opened her eyes. "I have heard that I appear innocent, but I have seen things in my life that no man, woman nor child should ever have the curse of seeing at any point in their lives." She returned the stare into his eyes, and smiled a bit softly. Someone wanted to know about her? That was unusual.

"I would also like to know more about you, Ceadda." Izanami whispered, reaching across the table and holding his chin, softly directing his eyes back to her. "You seem like a troubled man, yet interesting. You've captured my interest. I'd like to know what has made you, you." She smiled sweetly.

"Well my regret is not about the fact I kill. But for the fact killing is both how I've gained and lost everything. I killed my father 11 years ago for his mistreatment of my mother, but it is the skills he taught me about combat that have gotten me this far. This far, since I doubt your familiarity with my work, is that I'm renowned as a mercenary. The name 'Allastom' is what I go by in that business, I've had a few attempts on my life from it. One of them cost me the last of my family. The scar across my nose comes from a member of the agency trying to kill me, although no motives were clear, and I haven't faught an agency member since. But enough about my regret and work. I write to vent. I sadly enjoy the violence I've been involved in. My mother taught me a little bit about music too, which I wish I could pursue further. Writing and learning is all I have other than killing though. I wish that were different, although I enjoy learning and improving my weapons skills. Just more balance rather than almost always killing, is what I really want. Maybe somebody in my life, as I've been alone so long..." He sighed.

"Enough about my troubled past though," he said looking back her and smiling, "tell me more about you."

Izanami sighed sadly as she took her hand back. "My story is one that no one should hear."

"I lived in a happy home with my mother, father, older brother and younger sister. We never had troubles; everything was picture perfect. However, when I was eight years old, the Cadets made an infamous march through D'loul, and my family was one of the many victims of their cruel, heartless wrath. They raped my mother and took her, along with my baby sister. My father was beaten and forced to watch the raping of my mother, and when my brother came in to try and be a hero, he was beaten alongside my father. I had come at the sound of the ruckus, as it had been around midnight, and my young rage had exploded. A Cadet struck me and I hit the wall, and my father's voice echoed in my head to play dead until they left, and for many hours more." She pulled back some hair from the right side of her face, revealing a large scar down the side of her face. "I received this upon impact."

"The Dalets had taken me into the shelter they have in their territory. I made friends with an older boy, and at eighteen, he was kicked out two years before me. Once I was eighteen, I left as well. I returned to my home, and it was in the same condition. I was able to find my parents' safe for the three of us, and I slept over night, but I was kicked out for demolition. My friend was able to house me, but he had gone into drugs and alcohol, and I couldn't stay. So I built this home. Unfortunately, he still lingers like a terrible odor." She sighed. "I'm sure you didn't want to hear that all.
